Cressida Lowery
Freelance jewellery designer/maker and illustrator.
Having designed multiple collections for notable fashion and fine jewellery UK companies and attending trade fairs worldwide, Cressdia now enjoys creating her own collections and commission work.
For The 43 Shop, she offers a range of handmade contemporary designs in sterling silver, either with a mirror polish or planished (hand- hammered) finish. She also incorporates semi-precious stones and pearls, some pieces are carefully embellished with an 18k yellow gold plate.
Cressida works with the design philosophy, ‘Simple is best!’ Co-ordinating stylish shapes and themes she is inspired by subjects such as space, the organic world and architectural features.
She is currently working on a new range to be launched shortly, using Argentium silver, which is a higher grade at 940 silver with anti- tarnish properties.
Cresspress
Having studied printmaking during her Design degree, Cressida also enjoys the practise of relief printing as her medium to draw, engrave, print and produce an expressive style of linocut.
With an old mangle converted into a press, she prints each original on an acid free card. Each comes with a matching envelope and is presented in a bio-degradable film pocket.
On the reverse, an authentication stamp specifies whether it’s an ‘Open Edition’ print, (one colour). Or a ‘Variable Edition’, A mixed colour-version. Or one of a kind. 1/1.
Colour prints have carefully inked areas, sometimes impossible to repeat and often come in short print runs. All of which lend themselves as framable artworks.
Her inspiration includes local landmarks, scenes, flora and fauna alongside seasonal themes.
